TAMPA BAY OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR BYRON LEFTWICH

What was your number one goal on the defensive side to shut Mahomes down?

Shut Mahomes down? I think you have the wrong guy. I didn't have anything to do with that – that was Todd (Bowles).

Speak to what you saw on the other side of the ball and the job that Todd did?

I felt good going into the game just because who he is. Todd is a great coach. We are a different team then the team earlier in the year. It's not a surprise to us. We both felt good about our game plans and the outcome. Todd is a great coach – he knows what he is doing to put guys in position.

What does it mean to see Bruce Arians get this Super Bowl win? Does this win convince owners to look past somebody's color and go by achievements?

Probably not. We felt good, like there was no way we were losing this game. BA having the opportunity to win the Super Bowl as a head coach and knowing the assistant coaches, there was no way we were losing this football game – that is how we felt. We were fortunate enough that we found a way to pull it out. I love the way we played as a team. We have been building this thing like this for awhile and it all came together. I am happy for everybody that is involved.

On winning a Super Bowl as a player and a coach:

I mean hell no, I never envisioned myself being 30 years old, let alone in this position. It is just a unique thing. I know the city back home is going crazy right now. Like I said earlier in the week, I have a lot of support back at home. I just came along way to get here. It's exciting to be involved in these type of moments. I had a lot of help along the way. I am appreciative of these moments because they are special and unique. My 10-year old son is able to enjoy this moment and have confetti fall on him. He was able to see just grow from Week 1 to Week 20, it was just special and a unique thing.

Will the job you and Todd Bowles did tonight open some eyes:

If it does, it does. Hopefully so. Me and Todd were focused on what we needed to do to win the football game. To have this opportunity, to have three African-American coordinators on the same team and find a way to win the Super Bowl, obviously it will open people's eyes, but I can't speak on if it changes anyone's mind or thoughts around the hiring process. All we can do is just coach football. All we are trying to do is help these men grow and be in the best position and be the best football players they can be. That's our goal. Our goal is to help these players be at their best. Especially when you have these moments where you can grow. I still think we are getting better. I think a week from now, we will be getting better. Two weeks from now, we will be playing even better football. It's exciting. I know it just happened, but I am excited about what we have coming back and what this team has become.

Would you say your entire defense are MVPs?

Oh yes. I knew they would play well. I didn't know how well they would play. I just believed in Todd and the players that we have on defense. I knew there was a good chance we were coming out of this game being victorious. We just felt good about this game.
