Two-day event to serve as introduction to NFL’s Legends Community

Through the NFL’s continuous efforts to assist players in a successful transition to post-playing careers, recently retired players and their significant others have been invited to NFL headquarters in New York for a two-day introduction to the Legends Community and the resources available to them.

For the second consecutive year, eighteen of the most recent NFL Legends will be hosted at the league office July 12-13 to strengthen their connections with each other, their teams and the NFL.

“Transitioning from playing the game to life afterwards presents a unique set of challenges and opportunities,” said TROY VINCENT, NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations. “We want these men and their families to know that they are part of a lifelong brotherhood that cares, connects, supports, and assists in transferring the skills that were so valuable on the field to a successful life after the game.”

The Legends Community, launched in July 2013, provides unique opportunities and resources for Legends to engage year-round and aims to celebrate, embrace and unite former players and their families with the League and their former teams. To date, more than 7,300 players have registered for the Legends Community.

During the event, Legends will hear from team executives, as well as former players serving as Legends Community Directors and Coordinators to provide peer-to-peer support. Additionally, they will participate in networking opportunities and learn about the initiatives and programs specifically designed for them.

Topics include how to stay engaged with teams, the league and each other, educational and career development opportunities, discussions regarding transition assistance and benefits, and information on building their brand through storytelling.
