Latest Installment of "Going Global" Series Features Patriots Wide Receivers on the Ultimate Mexican Adventure
On Tuesday, November 14 at 10:00 PM ET, NFL fans will relive the ultimate bro-cation as experienced by Patriots wide receivers Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola with NFL Going Global: Edelman & Amendola in Mexico City.
Produced by NFL Media, in association with Edelman's Coast Productions, NFL Going Global: Edelman & Amendola in Mexico City sets the stage for the Week 11 International Series matchup featuring the New England Patriots versus the Oakland Raiders. Over four days this past offseason, Edelman and Amendola take in all the sights, sounds and culture of the capital city and celebrate the passionate NFL fan base found in Mexico.
"This summer, the NFL International team worked with Julian and Danny on the trip to Mexico City not only to promote the game, but to capture great content," said Michael Mandt, NFL Media Executive Producer, Original Content. "We all knew it would be a great opportunity to produce a short feature around their trip, but very quickly we realized that we had not just 3-5 minutes of content, but an entire show around their adventures. Their chemistry and humor makes them great ambassadors for the NFL and natural hosts for any future projects."
The special features the pair on a number of adventures, including a game of pick-up football with locals on the grounds of Azteca Stadium, exploring the famous San Juan market with Chef Josefina Santacruz, adopting alter egos as Lucha Libre superstars, and much more.
Edelman and Amendola also get a first-hand look at the passionate New England fan base that resides in Mexico during a meet and great in the heart of Mexico City that saw more than 2,000 fans turning out to show their excitement and anticipation for the Patriots' upcoming game at Azteca Stadium.
"Collaborating with NFL Media has been an incredible experience," said Assaf Swissa, Executive Producer, Coast Productions. "They supported and encouraged Danny and Julian's participation in the creative process. 'Going Global' is a big step forward in athlete-generated content."
The adventures in Mexico City experienced by Edelman and Amendola is just the latest installment of NFL Media's Going Global series that gives players the opportunity to meet NFL fans from across that world, while experiencing the culture and spirit of another country. Previously, NFL Media chronicled Giants receiver Odell Beckham's "Going Global" experience during a trip to London and Munich.
"The 'Going Global' series provides our players with the opportunity to share their love of travel, exploration and genuine appreciation for the passionate international NFL fan, while delivering great content our viewers around the world will enjoy," said Henry Hodgson, NFL Vice President of International Marketing. "Creating opportunities for our players to meet and interact with our international community is an important element to cultivating the NFL brand on a global scale, and this series serves as a great avenue toward that goal."
Following the premiere, an encore episode of NFL Going Global: Edelman & Amendola in Mexico City will air Saturday, November 18 at 4:30 PM ET.
