Week 14 Nominees Announced: FedEx Air & Ground Players of the Week, Pepsi Max Rookie of the Week, & GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week

The NFL announced today the Week 14 nominees for the FedEx Air & Ground Players of the Week, Pepsi Max Rookie of the Week, & GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week.

Quarterbacks TOM BRADY of the New England Patriots, NICK FOLES of the Philadelphia Eagles and CAM NEWTON of the Carolina Panthers are the finalists for the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week honors for games played on December 6-10, while running backs MARSHAWN LYNCH of the Seattle Seahawks, KNOWSHON MORENO of the Denver Broncos and ADRIAN PETERSON of the Minnesota Vikings are the finalists for the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week.

Fans can vote for one player in each category on NFL.com/FedEx from 9 a.m. EST on Tuesday through 3 p.m. EST on Friday to determine the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week. The winners will be announced Friday on NFL Total Access on NFL Network and on NFL.com.

Fans will be voting for more than their favorite player. As part of the Air & Ground program and its commitment to small business owners, FedEx will support education efforts at Junior Achievement by making weekly $2,000 donations in each of the winning players’ names. The funding, allocated to local Junior Achievement area offices in that team’s city or state, is used to help U.S. small business development, by educating the next generation of entrepreneurs on how to start and grow their own businesses.

A closer look at the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week finalists:

  • New England Patriots QB Tom Brady completed 21 of 35 passes for 296 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-14 win over the Houston Texans.
  • Philadelphia Eagles rookie QB Nick Foles completed 32 of 51 passes for 381 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles’ 23-21 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 
  • Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton completed 23 of 35 passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns as the Panthers beat the Atlanta Falcons 30-20. 

A closer look at the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week finalists:

  • Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch gained 128 yards on 11 carries and scored three touchdowns as the Seahawks beat the Arizona Cardinals 58-0.
  • Denver Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno tallied 119 yards on 32 carries and scored one touchdown in Broncos’ 26-13 win over to the Oakland Raiders.
  • Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson rushed for 154 yards on 31 carries and scored two touchdowns in the Vikings’ 21-14 victory over the Chicago Bears.

After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi MAX NFL Rookie of the Year honors.  Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/rookies throughout the month of January.  The Pepsi MAX NFL Rookie of the Year will be announced at the second annual “NFL Honors” awards show in New Orleans on Saturday, February 2, the night before Super Bowl XLVII.

A closer look at the finalists:

  • Cleveland Browns WR Travis Benjamin scored on a 93-yard punt return in the second quarter as the Browns beat the Kansas Chiefs 30-7.
  • Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles completed 32 of 51 passes for 381 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles’ 23-21 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 
  • Washington Redskins RB Alfred Morris rushed for 122 yards on 23 carries and scored one touchdown in the Redskins’ 31-28 overtime win against the Baltimore Ravens. 
  • Minnesota Vikings S Harrison Smith recorded six total tackles and one interception which he returned 56 yards for a touchdown in the Vikings’ 21-14 win over the Chicago Bears.  
  • New York Giants RB David Wilson gained 100 yards on 13 carries and scored two touchdowns on the ground.  He also accounted for 227 kick-return yards, including a 97-yard touchdown return as the Giants beat the New Orleans Saints 52-27.

This is Pepsi’s eleventh year as the official soft drink sponsor of the NFL and the eleventh year that Pepsi will present the NFL Rookie of the Week and NFL Rookie of the Year awards.

Fans may vote for one of these three moments on NFL.com/gmc following Monday Night Football and ending on Friday at 3 PM ET to determine the GMC NEVER SAY NEVER MOMENT OF THE WEEK.  The winner will be announced Friday during NFL Network’s “Around the League” show and then posted on NFL.com.

After the regular season, fans will have a chance to determine the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Year, from among the 17 weekly winners.  Fans can vote for the winner and enter for a chance to win a trip to Super Bowl XLVII on NFL.com/gmc throughout the month of January. 

A closer look at the nominees:

  • Cowboys rally for emotional win:  The grieving Dallas Cowboys earned an emotional 20-19 win over the Cincinnati Bengals a day after the tragic loss of a teammate. In order to claim the win, QB TONY ROMO helped the Cowboys erase a nine-point deficit in the closing minutes, with victory ultimately coming on K DAN BAILEY‘s 40-yard field goal as time expired. The win kept the Cowboys in the thick of the NFC East title chase.
  • Cousins completes comeback victory:  As he was marching the Washington Redskins down the field in an attempt to tie up the game in the final minute against the Baltimore Ravens,  QB ROBERT GRIFFIN III was injured on a scramble and had to leave the game. Rookie backup QB Kirk Cousins entered the game and picked up where RGII left off, hitting WR PIERRE GARCON for a touchdown and then forcing overtime on a run play on the two-point conversion. In overtime, K KAI FORBATH booted a 34-yard field goal to provide the Redskins with their fourth consecutive win.
  • Last-second TD ends Eagles’ skid:  The Philadelphia Eagles can finally put their longest losing streak in 42 years behind them.  QB Nick Foles threw two touchdown passes in the final four minutes, including a one-yard game-winning throw to WR JEREMY MACLIN as time expired, to give the Eagles a 23-21 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The win put a dramatic end to an eight-game losing streak.
