Week 13 Nominees Announced: FedEx Air & Ground Players of the Week, Pepsi Max Rookie of the Week, & GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week

The NFL announced today the Week 13 nominees for the FedEx Air & Ground Players of the Week, Pepsi Max Rookie of the Week, & GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week.

Quarterbacks BRADY QUINN of the Kansas City Chiefs, TONY ROMO of the Dallas Cowboys, and RUSSELL WILSON of the Seattle Seahawks are the finalists for the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week honors for games played on November 29 – December 3, while running backs JAMAAL CHARLES of the Kansas City Chiefs, BEN JARVUS GREEN-ELLIS of the Cincinnati Bengals and ADRIAN PETERSON of the Minnesota Vikings are the finalists for the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week.

These are the three finalists for the GMC NEVER SAY NEVER MOMENT OF THE WEEK for games played on November 29 – December 3, the NFL announced today.  The GMC NEVER SAY NEVER MOMENT OF THE WEEK is the best moment or play of the week that represents determination and perseverance.

Fans can vote for one player in each category on NFL.com/FedEx from 9 a.m. EST on Tuesday through 3 p.m. EST on Friday to determine the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week. The winners will be announced Friday on NFL Total Access on NFL Network and on NFL.com.

Fans will be voting for more than their favorite player. As part of the Air & Ground program and its commitment to small business owners, FedEx will support education efforts at Junior Achievement by making weekly $2,000 donations in each of the winning players’ names. The funding, allocated to local Junior Achievement area offices in that team’s city or state, is used to help U.S. small business development, by educating the next generation of entrepreneurs on how to start and grow their own businesses.

A closer look at the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week finalists:

  • Kansas City Chiefs QB Brady Quinn completed 19 of 23 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns in the Chiefs’ 27-21 victory over the Carolina Panthers. 
  • Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo completed 22 of 27 passes for 303 yards and three touchdowns as the Cowboys beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-33. 
  • Seattle Seahawks rookie QB Russell Wilson completed 23 of 37 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns in the Seahawks’ 23-17 overtime win against the Chicago Bears.  

A closer look at the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week finalists:

  • Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles tallied 127 yards on 27 carries in Chiefs’ 27-21 victory over the Carolina Panthers.
  • Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis gained 118 yards on 25 carries in the Bengals’ 20-13 win over the San Diego Chargers. 
  • Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson rushed for 210 yards on 21 carries and scored one touchdown in the Vikings loss to the Green Bay Packers 23-14.

Fans can vote for one of these five players on NFL.com/rookies beginning Tuesday at 9 A.M. ET and ending on Friday at 3 P.M. ET to determine the PEPSI MAX NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK.  The PEPSI MAX NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK will be announced Friday on NFL Total Access on NFL Network and on NFL.com.

After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi MAX NFL Rookie of the Year honors.  Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/rookies throughout the month of January.  The Pepsi MAX NFL Rookie of the Year will be announced at the second annual “NFL Honors” awards show in New Orleans on Saturday, February 2, the night before Super Bowl XLVII.

A closer look at the finalists:

  • Philadelphia Eagles RB Bryce Brown gained 169 yards on 24 carries and scored two touchdowns in the Eagles’ 38-33 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. 
  • Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon caught six passes for 116 yards and one touchdown as the Browns beat the Oakland Raiders 20-17. 
  • Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III completed 13 of 21 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown, and added another 73 yards rushing to lead the Redskins to a 17-16 win over the New York Giants.
  • Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck completed 24 of 54 passes for 391 yards and four touchdowns in the Colts’ 35-33 victory over the Detroit Lions. 
  • Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson completed 23 of 37 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns as well as adding 71 yards on the ground in the Seahawks’ 23-17 overtime victory against the Chicago Bears.  

This is Pepsi’s eleventh year as the official soft drink sponsor of the NFL and the eleventh year that Pepsi will present the NFL Rookie of the Week and NFL Rookie of the Year awards.

A closer look at the nominees:

  • Chiefs earn emotional win:  A day removed from a shocking tragedy, the Kansas City Chiefs produced their finest performance of the season in an emotional 27-21 win over the Carolina Panthers at Arrowhead Stadium. QB BRADY QUINN threw for two touchdowns in the triumph, which halted an eight-game losing streak during one of the most difficult seasons in franchise history.
  • Luck leads dramatic comeback:  The Indianapolis Colts pulled off one of the season’s best comeback wins in a 35-33 decision over the Detroit Lions. QB Andrew Luck overcame some of his own early mistakes to lead two scores in the game’s final minutes. The first touchdown to WR LA VON BRAZILL drew the game to 33-28, and then Luck hit WR DONNIE AVERY for the dramatic winning score as time expired.
  • Batch leads stunning win over Ravens: Veteran third-string quarterback Charlie Batch produced 10 fourth-quarter points to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to an improbable 23-20 win over the division-leading Baltimore Ravens. The winning points came on K SHAUN SUISHAM‘s 42-yard field goal as time expired. The win kept the Steelers in the thick of the AFC playoff race and put an end to the Ravens’ 16-game home winning streak.
