On Kickoff Weekend, 14 players who attended an NFL Regional Combine and/or the NFL Super Regional Combine held 53-man roster positions while an additional 14 served on clubs’ practice squads. Twelve of the 14 participants (85.7 percent) on active rosters saw game action in their team’s season opener.
NFL clubs started the season with players from seven of the eight 2012 Regional Combines hosted from January through March, including 19 who were invited to the Super Regional Combine at Ford Field in Detroit from March 30-31.
Of the players on Kickoff Weekend rosters, three were selected in the 2012 NFL Draft.
NFL Regional Combines and the NFL Super Regional Combine, hosted at NFL training facilities and in Los Angeles, serve as supplements to the NFL’s National Scouting Combine and provide players an opportunity to be tested and evaluated by experienced scouting personnel in the league. Measurements and test results are entered into a database available to all 32 teams, while participants also have the ability to distribute the data collected.
